The S.F. Hilton is not a bad place if you want location and value. Its nothing special but totally servicable. My wife and I stay here frequently for weekend get aways because 1 - I am a HHonors silver member and 2 - very centrally located. It is on the edge of the Tenderloin so if you are unfamiliar w/ SF ask for directions when you venture out at night. Also the quality of the rooms varies greatly. They say they are all renovated but some are down right bad. If you can get into the executive tower the rooms are very nice with great views. Parking is expensive at $33 but that is just one of the charms of SF!
Stayed here on New Years. Had a Tower 3 room on the 17th floor overlooking the pool. Rooms are nicely appointed, but SMALL. Bathroom has maybe 12 sq ft of floor that is interrupted by the toilet. Walls were thin and we heard all the partiers and people playing music quite clearly. Beds were good, we slept well and they gave us a 2 pm checkout. Beware $33 parking and the fact that this borders the tenderloin. There are lots of great cheap ethnic restaurants nearby, and it is a decent location. There are a lot of other nicer hotels in SF, but this one often has deals through Priceline and other channels that make it very affordable.
I will never again stay at this hotel again! The front staff was rude and not at all friendly. I literally live across the bay but wanted to get away for a weekend. The price of the hotel isn't worth the small rooms and horrible service. They charge $25 for parking which should be part of their disclaimer on their website but isn't! |
