San Francisco > San Francisco Hotels > Book this hotelHotel Palomar - a Kimpton Boutique Hotel hotel description>>
It was our visit from to SF from Scotland and thought the hotel location was fantastic, as were the rooms. The fuji spa tub was definitely required after a whole day pounding the sreets of SF. The only minor gripe was the non availibilty of coffee making facilities in the room and the too formal lounge/restaurant which appeared slightly intimidating for those on vacation. Otherwise, we would recommend this hotel to anyone as it contributed greatly to a stay in a city that we completely fell in love with.
Our whole family recently stayed at the Hotel Palomar in one of their 2-bedroom suites. (January 30) We had a gift certificate from Kimpton Hotels, and decided to splurge with an overnight in San Francisco (though we only live 45 minutes away) when we went to see "The Lion King."We were cheerfully greeted by the doorman each time we came and went. In fact, on Saturday, when the staff was different (and less friendly, by the way) my 10-year-old daughter mentioned that she missed "that nice door guy."Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The furnishings, carpet, lamps and accessories were tasteful and sophisticated. All of the artwork on the walls was gorgeous and interesting, and we even had a live palm in the dining area. Two of the kids donned their swim suits and sat in the bathtub as though it were a hot tub. Having such a deep Fuji tub was definitely a treat! We loved looking down on Market St. from our huge windows throughout the suite. There were two free apples and two free bottles of water waiting for us, as well as a VERY well-stocked mini-bar and fridge that we had to quickly keep the kids away from! The exercise room has a nice view of the rooftop garden and an interesting view through the glass ceiling of the Old Navy store that the hotel sits on top of. Although we didn't eat there, the restaurant was quite striking with a very appetizing menu. Someday without the kids...I was very happy with the location and the level of service. We only stayed one night, and I left wanting to stay a few more. I would definitely recommend this as a classy and comfortable place to spend time in San Francisco.
From the moment we arrived at the Hotel Palomar we knew we had found a wonderful hotel. The staff went out of their way to assist us with recommendations for the area as well as getting us settled into our room. Any questions we had were quickly answered. We stayed there 2 nights, January 20-23, 2004. The first night we stayed in the deluxe King room which we found to be spacious and beautifully decorated. Aveda bath products made for a relaxing shower. The second night they upgraded us to a room with a jacuzzi. Because we were out during the day they even moved our luggage for us to the new room. The jacuzzi was large enough for 2 (as was the shower next to it) and it was sooooo relaxing. Each room has a CD player, TV, mini-bar, and lots for business travelers (such as fax & internet). The beds have puffy down pillows and a down comforter so it was very cozy. Everyone from the doormen who opened the door as we rounded the corner towards the hotel to the front desk workers went out of their way to make us feel welcome and pampered. The hotel location is perfect as well since it is just 1 block from the cable car and underground and the buses and street cars stop right at the corner. See's candy being about 1/2 block away was nice too! The Hotel Palomar was the perfect spot to see San Francisco and made for a romantic get-away. I would happily return and heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a place to see the city while being treated like royalty. |
