San Francisco > San Francisco Hotels > Book this hotelThe Westin St. Francis hotel description>>
You will not find a more perfect location in San Francisco. It is the Waldorf Astoria of the West Coast. Classical, comfortable and cozy. My advice is for you to stay in the older part of the hotel. There is the tower and the older section. The older section has a unique personality only shared by other hotels of its calibre. Like everywhere you go in San Francisco, beware of the endless amounts of homeless people begging for money outside the hotel. HINT: Put your wallet in your front pocket. I was there for a convention for 6 days and loved every minute of it. The staff was over-friendly. The beds and bathrooms were extremely elegant. You will NOT go wrong with this place. My room in the older section was a little smaller than most hotels in the U.S., but it is definitely comfortable for 2 people. One other thing...don't eat breakfast there...it is a ripoff...$20+ for a buffet...go around the corner and get something for much cheaper...the service is horrible in the restaurant as well. But, the hotel is great. You will not need a car in downtown SF since you have a zillion taxis and the cable car. However, you can rent one from Hertz in the lobby. Chinatown is short distance by foot, the Wharf is a cable car ride STRAIGHT down the street, take a taxi to Lombard St.. This hotel offers you everything in convenience and comfort...except the restaurant for breakfast. Enjoy...you will love the St. Francis.
We booked our room on the web and the first thing we were told on checking in was we should upgrade the room as we'd be very disappointed with our existing booking! Not a great example of how to make your customer feel good about their purchase. Overall, we just didn't feel the hotel lived up to its name. Disappointing.
Great trip to SF Thanks to the St. Francis Hotel. Beautifull room and very nice staff, everyone was very helpful and made us "Feel very Welcome" !!! A must hotel for everyone who needs a home away from home in San Francisco !! We did leave our hearts there!! We'll be back! |
