I am not sure what these people are talking about that gave this hotel a negative rating. I was just there for a two night stay November 29-December 1. It was wonderful. It was modern and convenient to a lot of restaurants and shopping. The entrance to the BART station was also right up the street. This hotel was a welcome change to the stuffy hotels. I enjoy staying in "upper end" hotels. However, I do not enjoy when nice=stuffy. This was not the case here. The staff was attentive and friendly. I think the negative reviews must come from people that are put off by a hip, trendy crowd. Try speaking with someone, you will be surprised! On Sunday there was barely a drizzle outside. I was going out the door when a hotel staff member ran after me to offer me a hotel umbrella to use. The room was gorgeous! The view was amazing! Hats off to this wonderful hotel! My only complaint (if you will) was that the room service seemed very overpriced. Everything is al a carte. It was tasty, just expensive. Watch out for the old al a carte deal on that one.
While to location of the hotel could not have been better for my needs, my experience at this hotel was less than stellar. Due to connections with a corporate "big wig" my travel partner and I were to have VIP treatment. I do not beleive the staff of this hotel know what that means. Check in was 4 PM and our room was not ready until 5. Housekeeping left a lot to be desired. Most days it was late afternoon before the room was made up. The front desk staff was less than outgoing and the concierge staff seemed put out by the simplest of questions. On the bright side, the 24 hour fitness center/pool was great and the meal at XYZ was outstanding with a wonderful French waiter who was very attentive. I recommend the restaurant without hesitation but cannot say the same for the hotel.
If you like dark hallways and ever present techno rock, this place is for you. The computers were supposedly down the weekend that I stayed at this hotel and checking in and out was a nightmare. There do not appear to be any grown ups in charge and the staff has way too much attitude. Rooms are ridiculously small, sound proofing is nil and my teenage son did not appreciate the see-through bathroom doors. The location is good but don't expect to get any rest at this hotel. |
