No respite from the rain as Met Office issues four yellow alerts

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain until 6pm today for Belfast and another for the region around Dundee and Aberdeen.

And a third kicks in today until midnight tomorrow for the South-East, followed tomorrow by a fourth, which is for Scotland’s east coast until midnight Monday. Scotland may have up to six inches of rain.

The Met Office said although this weekend’s rain is less heavy than last, there is a risk of flooding where it falls on “already saturated ground”.

Southern England will see “heavy and at times thundery showers” that will “merge into longer spells of rain” with over an inch in some areas. The wettest spots close to the English Channel coast could see almost three inches.

Tomorrow, Northern Ireland, most of Scotland and the North will see spells of rain. Elsewhere it’s sunshine and showers.
